Navy honours 58 personnel with CNS awards

 The Nigerian Navy has honoured 58 officers and ratings with the Chief of Naval Staff Commendation Awards for distinguishing themselves in the areas of research and innovation, character and gallantry in 2023. The Navy also conferred its Command and Sea Badge on officers who successfully held sea commands during the year. The Navy gave the honour at its Ceremonial Sunset and Awards Night 2023, on Friday in Abuja. The categories of the awards include research and innovation, SDB III Design and Construction, exemplary character and gallantry. The other categories include the Office of the National Security Advised Tactical Disruption Team in the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, team award  (Operation Whirl Punch), outstanding command and leadership, outstanding ships/establishments, and sports. They has stumbled on a video making rounds on social media which reveals a female student of Ambrose Ali University (AAU), in Edo State being flogged and humiliated by her school mother. Sighted on Twitter, the user who shared the x-rated video of the incident on his page identified as @Valking Assistant, disclosed that the lady who was beaten in the video was allegedly accused of having a sexual affair with the boyfriend of her school mother. In the video, one can hear the lady shouting and sayin: “you no want make dem marry me…see who I wan take do chief bridesmaid”. Apparently, from the voice heard in the video we deduced, that the accused lady and the accuser have had a conversation on the accused lady being the chief bridesmaid at her wedding but passed behind her to stab her at her back. The school mother was joined by her friends to beat her school daughter.

The supreme court has affirmed the election of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state .In their unanimous judgement ,the court dismissed the appeal for totally lacking in merit, availing that ,the appellant has failed to prove the case of none compliance against the respondent. BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY, MAKURDI IS TO START FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION WITH THREE DEPARTMENTS.  Benue state University, Makurdi is to start  unbundling of the department of Mass Communication with three degrees, the HOD of the department professor Rodney Saawuan Ciboh disclosed this to BSU FM on Monday 20th of January 2020. Prof. Ciboh said the unbundling which is the NUC directive is base on each school capacity and competency so department of Mass Communication in BSU under his leadership with start offering three degrees which he mentioned are. 1.Bsc journalism and media studies. 2. Broadcasting and film studies 3. Advertising and Public Relations The HOD also said that he already sent the proposal to the deputy Vice Chancellor Academics for the start off and the university will soon advertise the programs.

BENUE GOVT UPGRADES AOCAY AND ATCAPS TO POLYTECHNICS  The Benue State Executive Council has approved the conversion of Akawe Torkula College of Advanced and Professional Studies, ATCAPS, Makurdi to Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, ATP, Makurdi. The Council has also approved the conversion of Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture, Yandev, AOCAY, to Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev, AOPY, Yandev. The Executive Council meeting which was presided over by Governor Samuel Ortom, gave the two approvals today at Benue Peoples House, Makurdi. The decision of Council to convert the two institutions to polytechnics is to enable them meet accreditation requirements set by National Board for Technical Education, NBTE. It was the considered decision of Council that Akperan Orshi Polytechnic and Akawe Torkula Polytechnic will begin to offer fully accredited diploma courses in various disciplines with graduates of the two institutions also participating in National Youth Service Corps.  The approva...
